St. James Parish Jail Roster
The St. James Parish Sheriff's Office publishes an inmate search feed through its official OCV app and web materials. The feed is integrated with VINE/Appriss data and showed current roster entries during research. The roster is a free public custody channel, but it should be read for what it is: a current jail and custody feed. It is not a complete criminal-history database, not a full court docket, and not a statewide prison locator.
The sheriff's official contact data lists Sheriff Claude J. Louis Jr., the main office at 5800 LA-44 in Convent, and the main phone number as (225) 562-2200. The Corrections Division coordinates custody, transport, feeding, care, medical needs, and recordkeeping. That division also lists staff contacts for the warden, records, commissary, transportation, and warrants. Those contacts matter when a roster entry is unclear or when a family member needs jail-specific information that the public feed does not display.
The official sheriff inmate feed shows the public roster data structure.
The feed gives direct evidence of the roster fields available to the public, including name, inmate ID, booking date, custody status, and agency details.
Use the St. James Parish Roster
The sheriff's official app materials identify inmate search as a high-value official feature. The app name is "St James Parish Sheriff's, LA" on Apple, and the Google Play app ID is com.ocv.stJamesLASheriff. The same app ecosystem exposes public records request, pay ticket, crime map, sex offender map, online reporting, accident reports, and division contacts. For inmate records, the app and web feed are the local starting point before expanding to VINELink, Louisiana DOC, or federal custody tools.
- Open the sheriff inmate search route or app inmate search feature.
- Use the search control to filter visible roster entries by name when available.
- Review the matching entry for custody status, booked date, inmate ID, and reporting agency.
- Check whether the visible record includes a photo and physical descriptors.
- Call the sheriff or corrections contact if the roster omits a needed field such as bond, court date, or holding location.
The roster is updated through live custody systems, so names and dates can change. Avoid relying on an old screenshot when bond, release, transfer, or court status matters.
St. James Parish Roster Fields
The research captured the inmate feed configuration rather than a traditional form with many required fields. The feed has public search and sort controls, with a result limit and date-display configuration. The inspected sample entries did not display populated charge descriptions, even though the data structure includes a chargeArray schema. That should be stated plainly because a user may expect the jail roster to show charges and bond details that are not visible in the sampled records.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Search | Text/search control | No or unspecified | Feed configuration has showSearch=true; likely searches visible inmate names. |
| Sort | Sort control | No | showSort=true, sortOrder=dateDesc, hideSortByDate=false. |
| Result limit | List setting | N/A | App configuration limit is 10. |
| Date format | Display setting | N/A | Configured as MMM DD, YYYY; displayDate=false in config. |
| Submit a tip link | Toggle | N/A | submitATipLink=false for the inmate feed. |
What Inmate Records Show
The strongest sample inventory came from the sheriff/VINE feed inspected on June 29, 2026. Visible St. James Parish inmate records showed identity, physical description, custody, booking, agency, and VINE-related fields. Some expected jail fields were not visible in the inspected samples. A blank or missing field should not be read as proof that no bond, court date, or charge exists. It may mean the public feed does not expose that detail.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Name and title | Last, first, and middle name formatting plus titleWithFirst. |
| Inmate ID | The local or feed identifier for the roster entry. |
| Photo URLs | Small and large mugshot images through VINE/Appriss image paths. |
| Physical descriptors | Height, weight, gender, race, age, eye color, and hair color. |
| Custody status | Status such as IN, with custody status date and CDT timestamp. |
| Booked date | The booking timestamp shown in the public feed. |
| Sex offender flag | True or False field for sex-offender status. |
| Reporting agency | St. James Parish Sheriff's Office, agency address, and agency phone. |
| Charge schema | chargeCode and chargeDescription fields exist structurally, but sample entries did not show populated values. |
| Not visible in samples | Bond, court date, holding pod, magistrate, and warrant number. |
St. James Parish Jail Contacts
The local research did not locate a separate published capacity table or multiple jail-facility list. It did identify the St. James Parish Correctional Center through the sheriff Corrections Division contacts and the sheriff main office. The sheriff's Westbank Sub-Office is useful for several public services, including traffic tickets and accident or incident report copies for west bank residents, but the research did not identify it as a jail intake facility.

St. James Parish Booking Process
Booking is the administrative step after an arrest or transfer into local custody. The sheriff Corrections Division handles custody, transport, feeding, care, medical needs, and recordkeeping. A roster entry can appear after the booking data is processed and synced with the public feed. The sample entries included booked dates, custody status, agency information, and mugshot image links. They did not show every court-related detail a family member may want.
Bond and court status require care. The research notes that the St. James Parish Correctional Center uses Electronic Bail Bonds, or eBonds. The roster samples did not show bond amount or court date fields, so a bond question should be routed to corrections, the sheriff warrants contact if a warrant is involved, or the clerk/court if the case is already filed. Court charge status belongs in the clerk criminal case record, not just the jail feed.
St. James Parish Visitation Rules
Official visitation, mail, phone-call, video-visit, deposit, and commissary schedules were not located in the reviewed sheriff source set. The research did find corrections and commissary staff contacts, which are the official fallback when a family member needs current rules before visiting, sending money, mailing items, or trying to speak with a person in custody. Do not infer a schedule from another Louisiana jail.
| Topic | Official St. James Source Detail |
|---|---|
| In-person schedule | Not located in official reviewed sources. |
| Video visitation | Not located in official reviewed sources. |
| Visitor ID requirements | Not located in official reviewed sources. |
| Dress code | Not located in official reviewed sources. |
| Child visitor rules | Not located in official reviewed sources. |
| Attorney visitation | Not located in official reviewed sources. |
| Money deposits | Not located except eBonds for bail and commissary contacts. |
| Commissary | Staff contacts were listed, but no public vendor or ordering schedule was captured. |
Mail, Money, and Commissary
The official source set gives names and phone numbers for commissary contacts but not a public mail format, phone provider, tablet provider, deposit vendor, or commissary ordering rule. Sgt. Jarita Long is listed for commissary at 225-562-2850, and Cpl. Erica Anderson is listed at 225-562-2228. Warden's Secretary and Record Management is Cpl. Tamara Guerin at 225-562-2506. Transportation, DOC, and Records is Capt. Andrika Singleton at 225-562-2806.
Before sending funds, mail, or property, call the sheriff main line or the relevant corrections contact. Mail and deposit rules can change quickly, and sending items under an assumed rule may cause delay or rejection. For bail, ask about eBonds and whether the person has a court-set bond, sheriff-held warrant, or no-bond status.
State and Federal Custody
A person may leave the St. James Parish jail record path after sentencing, transfer, federal arrest, or state-prison movement. VINELink Louisiana is the statewide custody notification path. The Louisiana Department of Corrections imprisoned-person locator is the state-prison path after DOC transfer. Federal custody is separate and uses the Federal Bureau of Prisons locator. These tools do not replace the St. James Parish jail roster for local pretrial custody, but they are essential when the local roster no longer shows the person.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons inmate locator is the federal custody lookup path.
Use the BOP locator only for federal custody. A St. James Parish arrest or jail booking will not necessarily appear there.
Inmate Records and Public Access
Louisiana public-records law gives access unless a specific law restricts the record, but jail and criminal records have important limits. Sheriff-created records such as incident reports, crash reports, recordings, and offense reports route through the sheriff's written public-records process. The sheriff page says no fee is charged for examination, while copying and reproduction fees apply. It also notes restrictions for criminal offense records, juvenile-identifying reports, sexual-offense victim identifiers, confidential sources, investigative methods, and security procedures.
For court outcomes, do not rely on the inmate roster. The roster can show custody status and booking facts. The clerk criminal file is the route for filed charges, minute entries, pleas, dispositions, and sentences. The difference is important when a person was booked, released, transferred, or had charges changed after the public roster entry first appeared.
